Vacation typo 1

Still on vacation today.

On page 231 of Remedial Law Compendium Vol. II, 11th Edition by Florenz D. Regalado:

Between commas

I am reading side by side Criminal Procedure Updated Edition (2011) by Willard B. Riano and Remedial Law Compendium Vol. II, 11th Edition by Florenz D. Regalado. Fine books and complementary to each other, I think.

I'll have some upcoming posts on the books this weekend.

In the meantime that I am on leave from work I'll deal with minor typos. Here's something on page 2 of Riano's:

My grammar teacher told me that a therefore in the middle of the sentence should be corralled by two commas. There's a trend, however, towards less punctuation.

Diligence of a good mother

I am on vacation until May 31. Got extra time to compare the old and the newest editions of Paras' Civil Code of the Philippines, Annotated, Vol. V which I am rushing through in preparation for the incoming school year.

In this post I talked about how feminists would love Paras in the way he worded Article 1885 in the 2008 Edition of the volume.

They would be delighted to know that Paras did not change a bit in the 2013 edition.

Refunded performance

We know about action for specific performance? But can performance be refunded? Paras seems to think so on page 71 of the Civil Code of the Philippines, Annotated, Vol. V, 2013 Edition:

Money dated

There is ante-dated or post-dated. But this one is money-dated.

Defective contracts

According to Pinoy Law Student one needs to read up  5 times on a law topic in order to get a good grasp of it. So I reread the discussion by Paras of the four kinds of defective contracts in connection with the book the Law on Sales by Villanueva.

On page 732 of the  Civil Code of the Philippines Annotated, Volume IV, 2008 Edition Paras listed the four kinds of defective contracts:

On the top of the next page he said:

So far so good.

But at the end of the page when he quoted the Code Commission he went back on his word thus:

Note: Today October 12, 2013 I have had occasion to re-read page 732 and now think that it could be the Code Commission who got it wrong if the the word "decreasing" inside the parenthesis is a direct quotation.
