In discussing Article 75 of the Revised Penal Code, Reyes has this to say on page 784 of his book The Revised Penal Code, Book One, 2012 Edition:

I have no problem with Par. 1 and 2.  But  where did he get his line of reasoning for the first clause of Par. 3?

Judgment in civil action: Regalado v Pamaran

On page 368 of the Remedial Law Compendium Vol. II, 11th Edition by Florenz D. Regalado the author quotes and explains Section 5 of Rule 111 in this manner:

In effect he says here that judgment in a criminal action does not bar a civil action. I think Regalado is 180 degree off topic.

Now this reminds me of a favorite story of Atty. Pat Acabodillo, one of my professors in Land Titles and Deeds. Somebody went to his office to ask for a certificate of death. He happened to be the Register of Deeds of Mandaue City at the time.
